We roast our coffee on a fluid bed roaster with 100% hot clean air. Roasting the coffee beans with a fluid bed roaster means that the coffee is roasted through convection. As the coffee beans float in the the hot air stream, they roll and tumble which causes unwanted by-products of the roast (burnt chaff, under size or broken beans, etc) to be expelled by the convective/lifting action of the hot air. Because of this, fluid bed roasted coffee beans have more flavor.

Overland Roast is the product of my love for coffee, my partner's desire to see me do something I really love, and a little help from Covid. After I lost my job when Covid hit I had plenty of time to start exploring the world of roasting on my popcorn popper. As I progressed and got better, I wanted to share my roasts with other people who understood this love for coffee. There is a sense of community when we get together over a cup! Combined with my love for overlanding (4x4 vehicle assisted remote camping) and this same sense of community you get when you sit around a campfire.

Overland Roast was born!
