OUR STORY

Overland Roast was born from my love for coffee, my partner’s encouragement, and a bit of unexpected time on my hands. After losing my job during the challenging times of the pandemic, I began roasting coffee on a popcorn popper, and as my skills grew, I wanted to share my passion with others.

OUR UNIQUE ROASTING PROCESS AND WHY IT MATTERS

We’ve come a long way from learning to roast coffee on an air popcorn popper. Today, we use a fluid bed roaster, which utilizes 100% hot, clean air to create a convection-based roasting process. As the beans are lifted and suspended in the air stream, they heat evenly, shedding unwanted particles like burnt chaff and broken fragments. This method preserves the beans' natural flavors and aromas, resulting in a bright, vibrant cup. With rapid heat transfer and precise control, we ensure each batch maintains the consistent quality that our customers love.

WHY WHOLE BEANS?

At Overland Roast, we believe that coffee should be savored at its freshest. That’s why we prefer to offer whole beans rather than pre-ground coffee. Once coffee is ground, it begins to lose its vibrant aroma and complex flavor as it oxidizes. Grinding your coffee right before brewing not only releases a burst of enticing aromas but also allows you to customize the grind size to suit your brewing method—whether you prefer a French press, drip coffee maker, or espresso machine. This simple step ensures that every cup captures the full potential of our carefully sourced single origin beans, delivering a richer, more nuanced flavor profile.

ON DEMAND ROASTING

Freshness isn’t just a promise—it’s our practice. As a micro roaster, we roast each batch on demand, ensuring that the coffee arriving at your door is at the peak of its flavor and aroma. While we work diligently to process your order as quickly as possible, please note that sometimes it might take a couple of days to roast your coffee before it’s delivered or shipped (shipping time is additional).
